Our Story

A few years ago, Ruth had the opportunity to work with a man who had gone through chemotherapy a year prior and who shared his struggle with the HORRIFIC nerve damage in his hands and feet from the treatments. His nerve damage was so bad that he COULDN'T WALK FOR A YEAR! During that session, he described the burning sensation in his feet (as if they were literally on fire) that would be permanent. He also explained that Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN) was the most common side effect of chemotherapy and that it affected around 40% of people who chose chemotherapy as their cancer treatment option. Even worse news, he said, is that CIPN cannot be cured once acquired.

Being overwhelmed by this information and trying to understand how people trying to save their lives could be left with such painful, debilitating, and permanent side effects after treatment, she was motivated to see what could be done.  Not long after sharing the problem, her father and his brother brainstormed, resulting in the solution.

Where we are now:

We have invested nearly 5 years and over 250K of personal investments and pre-seed money. We have 4 awarded patents (with 4 additional patents pending) for our CIPN Prevention System, Method, Device, and Apparatus. We have a comprehensive business plan, completed financial projections including 5 years of pro forma data, an IP valuation, identified the most likely pathway through the FDA for classification and clearance, and have created an alpha prototype.

Where we are going:

We’ve begun vetting medical device companies and are looking to assign rights or license our IP to the right company with an existing infrastructure to bring this non-invasive and effective solution to market quickly for this urgent and previously unmet medical need.
